The BIM coordination process

Effective coordination is critical to the BIM process. The cycle starts at the pre-design stage and continues, with the help of 3D, through detailed design during which collaboration is the key. We hold weekly coordination meetings in which representatives from all construction disciplines participate.

BIM is essentially a process rather than a software system (which is how some people still mistakenly view it). As with any process involving a multi-disciplinary team, coordinated input from all participants is vital. Our way of working encompasses building geometry and design data, spatial relationships, geographic information, environmental data, maintenance data, financial data, owner/occupier data and building specification/component data.

By coordinating and integrating all of this information, we eliminate any major system conflicts prior to the start of site work, increasing productivity, reducing construction costs and build time and increasing site efficiency.
